Sometimes planet Earth just can't catch a break, man. Tsunamis. Earthquakes. Little innocuous possession flicks that cause a tidal wave of disdain and hatred. Oh, and of course supernatural invasions. They're always fun.

Hollywood just cannot seem to get enough alien flicks lately. Little green men abound everywhere you look. And you know what else? The lil bastids are reproducing faster than rabbits. According to Variety, The Gray Man scribe Adam Cozad has signed on to write Archangel, New Regency's extraterrestrial thriller with TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski attached to helm.

After reading all the positive reviews of Joe Cornish's Attack the Block, we knew it was just a matter of time before its US distribution rights were snapped up, and today we know who has acquired them. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions bought the film, and its genre label, Screen Gems, will act as distributor.

The SXSW Film Festival announced its final award winners Saturday morning, March 19th, all of which were selected by the films’ audiences, and as tabulated across both the official SXSW Midnighter section and the SXFantastic sidebar, the big genre winner was Joe Cornish’s Attack The Block.

Which is far better than a suburban slant, but not quite as cool as a sharp ninety-degree slant. What the hell was I talking about again? Oh, yeah! Aliens!

I don’t know how many other "Invasion" fans are out there, but I remember exactly how I felt after I watched what would end up being the series finale of the short-lived ABC show. It was as if someone had hit me upside the head with an aluminum bat and then did the Macarena on my skull.
