‘Alone In The Dark’ Releases New Trailer Showcasing Player Choice [Video]

Alone In The Dark

THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Alone In The Dark earlier today. During the trailer, we meet a few characters in the Derceto mansion and see how things will play out ever so slightly, depending on whether the player chooses to play Emily Hartwood or Edward Carnby.

When speaking to the trailer, Mikael Hedberg, Creative Director, said, “One of the most important parts of the game is the place. It’s, at its very core, a haunted mansion story. That’s why we needed to make sure we recreate Derceto again!” It’s nice to see Alone In The Dark focus on what made it a great story in the past. The later games seemed to have lost it, but in this entry, we see a focus on a forgotten entity from the first game: the mansion.

Watch the new trailer now:

Alone In The Dark follows Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer) and private investigator Edward Carnby (David Harbour) as they travel to Derceto Manor—a home for the mentally fatigued—to investigate the disappearance of Jeremy Hartwood, Emily’s uncle. It has been described as more of a reimagining than a remake. Given how the later entries in the series went, this could stand to be a great way to kick off the series as a whole.

Alone In The Dark marks the first entry into the long-running series since Alone In The Dark: Illumination in 2015 under publisher Atari was met with much criticism. Since then, THQ Nordic has gained the IP and is looking to set things right for Alone In The Dark and survival horror fans. The new game focuses on a thrilling atmosphere mixed with what can only be described as a doom jazz soundtrack. It’ll be exciting to see what comes of it. It doesn’t hurt that Mikael Hedberg, writer of SOMA and Amnesia, is writing the story. Fans won’t have to wait long to discover what’s in store.

Alone In The Dark releases on March 20th, 2024, for the Xbox series, PlayStation 4/ 5, and PC with some pretty cool Digital Deluxe Edition Pre Orders, like a Derceto 1992 Costume Pack, Vintage Horror Filter Pack, and the Director’s Commentary Mode.
