Ultra-Indie Daily Dose: Adventures In In In In Is Existential Dread By Way of Missingno

Hello, you glorious gluttons for all things indie horror! Are you just starving for the newest of the new, the most unknownest of the unknown? If so, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the Ultra-Indie Daily Dose! In this series, we’re going to pick a new game every day from an indie horror creator you’ve probably never heard of. No million-dollar budgets or factory productions. This is the space for the little guy with not but a developer toolkit and a dream. So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!

Welcome back for your Daily Dose of indie horror! Today’s game is not exactly a horror game, seeing as its itch.io tags do not include “horror.” But for any of us who found the concept of Pokemon’s MissingNo a little unsettling, this submission for PAPER JAM 2 might be for you. Created by developer Fluffymouse is this game about a fluffy mouse: Adventures In In In In. Not a typo.

Adventures In In In In follows the story of a mouse villager named Luke. But what starts out looking like a fun little RPG soon turns into a nightmare for Luke, when the game itself begins to glitch. Family and friends are turned into grotesque collections of static and pink-black checkerboard patterns, and our poor hero is forced to escape this formerly whimsical world.

The game is about ten minutes long, so I won’t go much further into the premise than that. The gameplay is light JRPG combat interspersed within exploration sequences. Adventures In In In In may not consider itself a horror game, but you will certainly notice parallels between it and Doki Doki Literature Club, and certainly feel some kind of existential dread.

Truthfully, this game deserves an Indie Spotlight article, but perhaps that will come later. You can download Adventures In In In In from itch.io by clicking here
