On this day in horror history, director Mike Flanagan’s home invasion thriller Hush with Kate Siegel had its world premiere at South by Southwest in 2016.
Netflix released it on April 8, 2016.
It follows a deaf writer living a solitary life in the woods who must fight for her life when a masked killer appears in her window. Flanagan directed and edited the slasher film. He also penned the stellar script along with leading lady (and wife) Kate Siegel. John Gallagher Jr. co-stars along with Michael Trucco, Samantha Sloyan, and Emilia “Emma” Graves. Trevor Macy produced with Jason Blum.

Rated R for strong violence/terror and some language, the film sports a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Hush navigates the bloody waters of home invasion thrillers and incisive slashers for a contemporary horror puree.
Stephen King loved the film, tweeting, “How good is Hush? Up there with Halloween and, even more, Wait Until Dark. White knuckle time. On Netflix.” William Friedkin also dug the film, saying “HUSH is a great horror film…on Netflix. Terrifying.”
