The Most-Watched Thriller on Hulu Is An Intense Ride: “Something that could happen today”

In a streaming landscape over-saturated with prestige dramas and nail-biting thrillers, one film has risen to the top crop, unexpectedly capturing the attention of Hulu audiences. The Stranger, a suspense-filled surprsie, has surged to the forefront of Hulu’s genre offerings, claiming the title of the platform’s most-watched thriller today.
Since its recent debut on Hulu, The Stranger has been generating buzz and leaving viewers on the edge of their seats with its intricate plotlines and unexpected twists. According to IMDb, the film follows unassuming young rideshare driver who is thrown into her worst nightmare when a mysterious Hollywood Hills passenger enters her car.
The star-studded affair had a strange trip en route to finding its audience. The project was intitially a Quibi series back in 2020 but the ill-fated platform went belly up. Since then it has been recut as a film, and audiences seem to be perferring this new format for the story.

The Stranger stars horror heavyweight Maika Monroe, who rose to prominence with her breakout role as Jay Height in the critically acclaimed horror film It Follows. Since then, Monroe has appeared in a variety of films across different genres, including The Guest, Independence Day: Resurgence, Watcher, Signifiant Other and God is a Bullet. Dane DeHann costars, and genre fans may be familiar with his work in A Cure for Wellness, Chronicle and Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story.
