Horrorfest
While the quality of the flicks themselves may be questionable in many cases, it’s nevertheless true that a cool concept such as the annual After Dark Horrorfest leaves UK genre fans wanting for some similar horror action on these shores without resigning to wait for the (eventual) DVD releases.
Every year the After Dark Horrorfest terrifies audiences (or at least tries to) with a crop of indie flicks that would normally never see a theatrical release. Up until now said movies have only been available on DVD, but word has just come they're headed to Blu-ray in special double feature editions this January!
Definitely the biggest DVD release this week is the After Dark Horrorfest box set with, if not eight films worth dying for, at least a couple that are worth your time; and the fun of the thing is figuring out which ones they are. But that's not all that's coming out March 23rd; read on for the rest.
It's that wonderful time of the year again! As of March 23rd you'll be able to take home either the entire set or just your favorite movies from this year's After Dark Horrorfest 4, and we've put in the hours to find out what is worth your time and what was best left dead and buried. Dig it, baby!
In Anthony DiBlasi's adaptation of Clive Barker's short story "Dread", one of the characters is an artist, and in anticipation of Dread's DVD release (along with the rest of this year's Horrorfest entries), one lucky person can have his or her portrait painted by Nicole Balzarini, the real artist behind Quaid (Shaun Evans)'s paintings in the film.

This past weekend After Dark's Horrorfest 4 rolled out the red carpet for writer/director Brian Pulido's entry into the genre film fest, The Graves, at the Beverly Center.
As part of the festivities surrounding this Friday's kick-off of After Dark's Horrorfest 4, there will be a NYC Zombie Village Crawl with the meet-up scheduled for 5:00 PM on January 29th at Pie by the Pound, 124 Fourth Avenue.
