The Best Horror Movies Streaming On Pluto TV

Pluto TV is one of my favorite things that I can still afford to have in this economy. The streamer is not only serious about their horror programming, but it’s also free. Whether you want to tune into their 24/7 horror channel or take advantage of what they offer via on-demand, it’s genre fan heaven. This month, they’re adding the Urban Legend trilogy alongside other 90s horror like Wolf and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. They also have the potential for a cool exorcism double feature with The Possession of Hannah Grace and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. With all these awesome titles, it’s hard not to be excited this spring. I already know that I will be losing weeks on this beloved app. Check out the five movies I am the most obsessed with this month below.

30 Days of Night

A small Alaskan town is attacked by vampires while experiencing a month of total darkness. Not only is this possibly one of the best vampire movies of its era, but it also gave us another Josh Hartnett horror movie moment. He’s joined by Melissa George and Danny Huston for this dark and bloody tale. Pluto TV is also giving us the sequel 30 Days of Night: Dark Days this month. If you have always wanted to watch them back to back, April is your time.

Child’s Play

A single mother gives her son a doll that is currently housing the spirit of a serial killer. The movie that started this disturbing and campy universe is back on a streamer in time for us to rewatch it before finishing season 3 of Chucky. While I like a lot of the movies hitting this app this month, I fucking love Child’s Play. As a Charles Lee Ray stan account, I will have my eyes glued to the TV as if I have not seen this movie 100 times already. I sincerely hope you do the same because what a ride!

Fright Night

A teenager believes his new neighbor is a vampire and turns to a horror TV host to help him battle the undead. Speaking of Tom Holland (the filmmaker, not Spiderman) movies I’ve been obsessed with since childhood, Fright Night is that girl. As a kid, I wore my mom’s VHS out rewatching this movie and wishing our neighbors were cool enough to be vampires. I also developed the weirdest crush on Chris Sarandon. I speak from experience when I say this pairs nicely with Child’s Play

Overlord

A small group of American soldiers discover horror outside of the war when they land behind enemy lines on D-Day. I didn’t expect much from this movie, so I was surprised at what a good time I had. I also love that we have a Black lead, Jovan Adepo, in a subgenre that still refuses to get with the times. This cast also has Wyatt Russell and very brief but memorable appearances by Bokeem Woodbine and Joseph Quinn. As someone generally bored with war movies, I must admit this one is a weirdly good time.

Super 8

In the summer of 1979, friends witness a train crash while trying to film their zombie movie. Afterward, they notice a series of unexplained events in their small town. I watched this movie once back when laptops still played DVDs. I am way overdue for a rewatch on a screen that will not fit in my lap while I’m traveling. This movie gives big It (2017) energy, and that is my mood right now. I want to see more groups of kids taking down supernatural entities, and I want it now.
