Split Screens, Scream Teams, and Monstroween! [New Blood News]

All Wounds Scream At Once

Alright, Fright Fiends, let’s get straight to the biscuits! You know the drill—I have some news about the indie horror scene, and you’re going to listen to it or I’m not untying you from that chair. Are we on the same page? Good! Let’s get started!

Monstroween 2023 (Event)

Artist David Hartman is right on schedule with his annual Monstroween event, coming soon to a haunted graveyard/mad science laboratory/serial mom’s basement near you! This one’s for the artists who like to draw ghosts, ghouls, beasts, and everything in between. Each day of October will have a new monster prompt for y’all to join in on. Be sure to add #hartmanmonstroween to wherever you post your work, so everyone can see your morbid masterpieces!

Scream Team (Music)

Just in time for the spooky season, Pitch Black Manor has just released their latest album, Scream Team! Joshua Bentley, Chad Fifer, and Lyle Erickson chauffeur us in a “hearse with the Scream Team for a bloodthirsty romp through the B-movie countryside!” They promise cannibal hillbillies, vengeful scarecrows, hags, blobs, and everyone else from my family reunions! Check the album out right here!

Split Screen (Feature Film)

Horror Dadz Productions is at it again! It seems every time I blink, they have a new indie horror film on the docket. Joshua Brucker (Mothman, The Woodmen) and Dillon Brown (Ghost, Tahoe Joe) have teamed up to bring us a found footage double feature titled Split Screen! Brucker’s entry, The Illinois Valley Murder Tapes, follows a pair of internet sleuths as they “investigate a serial murderer after uncovering his self-made murder tapes.” Meanwhile, Brown’s Greys: The Nevada Alien Incident tells of a paranoid man as he “hides after an intense encounter with an alien. But with seedy government agents on his trail, who is the real threat?” Split Screen will be released sometime this fall, so I’ll keep you updated once I am!

Petitecreme (Creator)

Earlier this month, a friend of mine introduced me to Petitecreme, a talented comic creator of many interests, including our favorite genre! Every October for the past three years, Petitecreme has released short horror comics as a challenge to herself, dubbed the “Screamtober” series. These include The Concealing Case, The Snow Angel, and The Fields so far. She’s planning to release her next entry during the first week of this October, so keep a lookout on Twitter, Tumblr, and website here!

All Wounds Scream at Once (Indiegogo)

Whenever a production claims to be “the most terrifying horror film put to film” and “doesn’t just push the envelope, it shreds the envelope”, my interest can’t help but pique like a killer behind a window curtain. That’s exactly what director David R. Williams says his next film, All Wounds Scream at Once, is going to do! From looking at the stills shown on its Indiegogo page, the word “gruesome” doesn’t quite do it justice. Said to be “I Spit On Your Grave meets Repulsion with a side of Nekromantik“, the synopsis goes as such:

“A woman haunted by tragic events withdraws to an isolated family farm to heal. Instead her soul-crushing sorrow mutates into madness, murder, and death.”

If you’re not into extreme horror (The Guinea Pig Series, August Underground, A Serbian Film, etc.), then this might not be for you, which is completely understandable. For us Gorehounds out there, though, you can support the production on its Indiegogo here, as well as learn more about the feature!

Thank you to all the creators who shared their work with me! Tune in next time to see what else bubbles up from the indie horror ooze running under the cinematic landscape.

Until next time…

Ciao, friends!
