If there’s one sub-genre of horror that’s showing no signs of slowing down, it’s the found footage film, and we’ve got another one headed to theatres this October. This time around the cameras capture a terrifying real life urban legend!

The citywide rollout release of HER CRY: La Llorona Investigation will start in Houston, Texas, on Friday, October 25th, 2013 with opening dates in other markets to be announced. Dark Lightning Films’ domestic theatrical release will be in the following Houston theatres: AMC Studio 30, AMC Willowbrook, AMC Gulf Pointe 30, Regal Edwards Marqe 23, Regal Edwards Grand Palace, and Regal Edwards West Oak. DLF is in negotiation with other theatre chains for more opening dates and locations.

Damir Catic directed the highly anticipated found footage genre film adaptation of the Latin American urban legend of La Llorona. Catic and Ron Gelner produced. The film, which stars Gabrielle Santomouro, James Ezrin, Everardo Guzman, Parker Riggs, and others, won the prestigious GOLD REMI award at this year’s WorldFest in the Mystery/Thriller category with nominations for Best Actress, Actor, and Movie from the Houston Film Society.
