Golden Globes Show Love For Horror Shows LOVECRAFT COUNTRY & RATCHED

The Golden Globes announced their nominations yesterday. And the HBO horror show Lovecraft Country and Netflix’s Ratched snagged Best Television Series noms. They will go up against The Crown, Ozark, and Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Evan Romansky created and Ryan Murphy developed Ratched based on the character from Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The Shining author Stephen King is enjoying the series as well dubbing it “positively Hitchcockian.”

The suspenseful drama series tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched. In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital. There new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be. But the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system. And those within it. her stylish exterior belies growing darkness that has long been smoldering within.

Misha Green developed Lovecraft Country based on Matt Ruff’s novel. It follows Atticus Freeman in search of his missing father, Montrose Freeman. He joins up with his childhood friend and his Uncle on a road trip across 1950s America Their search turns into a struggle to survive. And they must overcome both the racist terrors and monstrous creatures ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

Lovecraft Country is now streaming on HBO Max. Ratched is now streaming on Netflix. The 78th Annual Golden Globes take place on February 28th.
