Remembering George A. Romero by Robert Lucas

He probably would have teased me for saying this, but George Romero was a father figure to me. His films molded my childhood and helped inspire my career. Night of the Living Dead was one of the first films I saw as a kid. It changed me forever.

More importantly, George was one of the most genuine and sweetest human beings on the planet. George always made you feel at ease. He was always so gracious to his fans and anyone who interacted with him. I am honored to have spent some time with him through the years. We always used to quote The Godfather films and make jokes on which old bad films we could try to remake.

He is a legend. Not just as a ground-breaking filmmaker, but as a human being! I will miss him dearly. My love and condolences go out to his colleagues, friends, and most importantly his family. I love you Mr. Romero.
