Rest in Peace: Comedic Genius Gene Wilder

The world has just gotten a lot less funny as the sad news is coming in (no, this is not a hoax) that Gene Wilder has passed on at age 83.

According to the Associated Press, Wilder’s family made the announcement this Monday afternoon. His nephew said the actor and writer died late Sunday, August 28th, in Stamford, Connecticut, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Wilder will be best remembered for his films like Blazing Saddles, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Producers, Stir Crazy, and Silver Streak; but for us horror fans, it’s all about his two memorable appearances in the classic films Haunted Honeymoon and Young Frankenstein.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincere condolences to Wilder’s family, friends, and constituents. Thank you, Gene, for all of the smiles and belly-aching laughs. You were one of a kind, sir. Rest easy.

Gene Wilder
