A lot of people would not agree with me, but I would say spawn.
The past 30 issues(150-on) have had some great stuff, and have really gone down a much darker path. I would also suggest Hellspawn, and curse of spawn.
Outside of the spawn universe, hack/slash is great stuff. Especially if you can track down the single issues before the annual series started.
Astonishing wolf-man has some interesting werewolf stuff, and it's kirkman, so you can't go wrong there.
Army of darkness comics(though they are more comdey then anything else) are great, especially since he crosses into so many different universes(reanimator, darkman, etc...).
Marvel zombies is probably my favorite at the moment, even though it is not annual. Especially since they brought in Morbius, werewolf of the night, man-thing, pretty much the whole midnight sons group.
Grimm fairy tales is also decent, it takes a more fucked up look at fairy tales that winds up being more satisfying then it deserves to be.
If that's not enough, I can list more. _________________ Tech N9ne K.O.D. has been playing in my head so I've been listening non-stop. Great songs, give it a try! |

I'd say check out:
Uzumaki, by Junji Ito
Strange Embrace, by David Hine
The Drifting Classroom, by Kazuo Uemzu
From Hell, by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell
Also, if it's not too cheeky, I'd recommend my horror webcomic, Split Lip
You can find Split Lip at http://www.webcomicsnation.com/splitlip/
Split Lip is an anthology series of self-contained stories about the strangeness of the world, the mysterious Other, and other thungs that go bump in the night. You won't find vampires or zombies or other archetypes here, just stories designed to unsettle and disturb.
We've published 24 stories to date - over 275 pages of free comics.
Our latest story, “The Cousin of Death,” was written by me (Sam Costello) and draw by Gary Crutchley. It’s the story of a sleepwalker who discovers a whole new world through his sleepwalking.
Hope you enjoy any or all of these!

Now this is my shit.
Criminal macabre by steve niles is good. Classic noir detective in LA fighting monsters story. Basically think the American John Constantine.
And while I bring up John, well all of the Constantine's are good too.
30 days of night, specifically for my money red snow is awsome.
My favorite would have to be wormwood gentlemen corpse though. Illustrated and written by my favorite artist Ben Templesmith, it tells the story of a worm named wormwood who lives in various dead bodies he has hanging up like suits in his closet. He also helps save the universe from being over run by all manner of bizarre beasties. Its really funny too. Templesmith also write and drew Welcome to Hoxford, which was far less funny and much more disturbin'.
Oh, and I found a tpb of lovecraft stories which I believe was called, "haunter of the dark and other stories," or something like that. |

| Just recently read Dead West by Rick Spears. I really liked it. Zombie western, really simple story, a little nod to Dawn of the Dead thrown in. Short read though. |

Yes, alan moores run on swamp thing is good. If you enjoy swampthing, try hellblazer as well.
The cthulu books by boom are interesting enough, I keep going back to read them. _________________ Tech N9ne K.O.D. has been playing in my head so I've been listening non-stop. Great songs, give it a try! |

Anything Ben Templesmith works on is usually pretty horrific.
Welcome to Hoxford
Wormwood Gentlemen Corpse
Also, Choker, though it is kind of a noir sci fi, horror hybrid
I enjoyed the two anthologies thomas ligotti has, The Nightmare Factory 1 and 2, which are both good.
and, it appears I have already wrote something, my b. _________________ http://spookysean.com/blog/ |

goblin310, you should track down the Dark Horse Book of... anthologies. Great stuff. The Beasts of Burden stories are fantastic. |
