I don't get stoned...but whenever I watch Eraserhead I feel like I might be...
or maybe that's just what it feels like to go insane...
how the hell would I know? I don't get stoned....

Back in the day, getting stoned and watching The Wall had about the same effect for me as watching it sober...except for the animated sequences. Listening to just the album seemed to have more of an intoxicating effect.
I always had interesting moments watching old Max Fleischer cartoons, like the old Popeye. I swear he was cussing like a sailor (  ) when he was mumbling.
David Lynch films are good. They have that "WTF" quality...like everything's going normal for awhile, and then "OMGWTFBBQ Dennis Hopper!"
Blade Runner is twice as soothing to look at.
Try some old foreign films like Fellini's 8 1/2 or JULIET OF THE SPIRITS...Jean-Luc Goddard's stuff, like ALPHAVILLE, still makes me feel like I'm stoned when I'm not. Michelangelo Antonioni can make something as simple as wind blowing across the tops of trees seem like the most surreal moments ever. BLOW-UP is a good starting point, but the Monica Vitti trilogy (L' Avventura, La Notte and L' Eclisse) shouldn't disappoint either. And you can get all this stuff on Netflix.
Of course, just about any horror flick works great.  |

I was stoned while watching Harold and Kumar... and being originally from NY... I can appreciate the jonesing for a sack full of bellie bombers... but I didn't like this movie at all...

True... and that was about the only part I found to be funny... otherwise... meh, wasn't my thing...
Besides TPB or Ali G... I'll watch just about anything that I got sitting around here that I haven't gotten around to watching yet...

All movies are good to watch stoned. I usually take a little sneak-a-toke with me to hit in the theater bathroom.
The best though are these weird little Euro arthouse movies, because how the hell else are you supposed to understand them? One of my favorites is a Dutch movie called Turkish Delight. It's just a young, hot Rutger Hauer banging chicks left and right. Two greatest lines: when this chick pulls her top off and pops out with some seriously saggy titties he says, "That's okay, I'll just use the bottom half," and when he reaches into the toilet to fondle his wife's turd (I'm assuming this is commonplace among the Dutch because otherwise, wt-fucking-f?) he tells her, "Nothing but roses could come out of your poop hole." Or something like that. I can't really remember, I was stoned. But I highly recommend Turkish Delight. It's some good time old school Eurocheese, and watching it sober wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun. |

Whoever said "Yellow Submarine" wins a biscuit. Greatest trip I ever had in my life involved watching that movie.
For me, it's really any movie that doesn't outright suck. I love being surprised, but I fucking hate being disappointed. Then, that's sort of always the risk you take, isn't it? Kind of the unwritten contract you sign by sitting your happy ass in that theater seat on opening day.
Saw Lemony Snicket's when I was stoned the other day. That movie was fuckin' AWESOME. Definitely one of my favorite children's movies ever. Up there with Willie Wonka.
Lately, I've been watching Raising Arizona alot. By "alot" I mean more than once in the same month.
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is probably pretty high ranking on my rhetorical list. I can't watch just one scene, I always end up sitting it through. It's the greatest sequel ever made.
O, Brother Where Art Thou? is a given. Who here hasn't seen that movie a million times? Who still watches it whenever it comes on TBS?
