Tonight at Dread Central we are watching the original Tobe Hooper classic The Texas Chan Saw Massacre.
Who will survive and what will be left of them? The film that stunned people with its you-are-there feeling. Also one whose reputation is greater than the actuality. The film, while in your face about its violent intent, is almost bloodless. In fact, Tobe Hooper originally intended for the film to be PG. Little blood. No swearing. Just suggestion.
Shot on 16mm with very little money during the summer of 1973 and inspired by the murders of serial killer Ed Gein (also the basis for Norman Bates) the film went on to be a huge success and to this day is considered one of the best horror films ever made.
The saw starts buzzing at 7pm Pacific, 8pm Mountain, 9pm Central, and 10pm Eastern.
So grab your VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, or even Blu Ray and join us for what happened is true. Now for the motion picture that is just as real.
And if you're bored waiting then kill time playing the Atari game from 1983.

| Oh, I've got to tell you, I love this film. It had passion and a plucky spirit. And, the characters had integrity, like when Leatherface went on that strict diet of human flesh, he had to cut out chicken and fish completely. |
