I still can't believe it took me this long to get into Joss Whedon. For years, I had dismissed 'Buffy' and 'Angel' as cheeseball teeny-bopper WB shows. Now I realize what all the fuss was about! This is some of the most creative and well-written stuff on television.
I flew through 'Buffy' and now I'm on the fourth season of 'Angel'. I'm fuckin' hooked, I tells ya! |

YAY! Another convert!
It's the funniest thing how many people (myself included) never did watch these shows when they aired but fell in love with them on DVD. They truly are some of the richest characters ever to grace the small screen. Josh and all the writers really outdid themselves.
Viva La Buffy and Le Angel!
And Giles and Cordelia and Willow and Spike and Lorne and Joyce and the Gentlemen and everyone else. _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

I love Buffy and Angel, and think that they were some of the most well written shows on television. Like you people I didn't get into them at first. I was flipping channels one night and happened to stop on Buffy because Spike caught my eye; at first I thought it was a show about him then realized "oh it's Buffy". I really dug how the character was written; after that I got hooked on the series. _________________ Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn! |

first episode I watched was the season two finale, was talking to a couple friends online, they were going on about it, so I switched over to it, and haven't looked back.
Been meaning to do a mega-marathon of all the seasons but my friend has my season three set of Buffy so I can't do it till he brings it back, whenever that'll be, heh |

N00bs!
I watched Buffy from day one...I thought it would be canceled after one season before I watched it because, come on...It was a TV show based on a flop movie on a brand new network with a former soap star...And I have never been so happy to be wrong. To say I became obsessed is a disservice to the word.
Even at it's worst Buffy is still better than 99% of TV before and after.
Angel disappointed me though. Good but it never reached Buffy heights for me. |

Yea, I watched the first season of 'Buffy' thinking "Well...it's kind've amusing".
Then I gave the second season a try and the moment Spike entered, I was addicted.
For me 'Angel' didn't pick up until Season Three, but now I think it's easily on par with 'Buffy'. |

As far as the first few seasons go I think they are crap, things don't start pickin up for a while into it. _________________ Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn! |

I'll give ya the first season, but next to season 5, seasons 2 & 3 were among the best of the show
Edit: Wait, were ya talking about Buffy or Angel? heh |

I never gave 'Buffy' a serious thought till I caught some of the reruns. The one that sold me on it was the second season finale with Angelus, then I got into the third season and was hooked.
It's easily one of the best series, even in its weaker seasons, TV has produced. |

Buffy, and I'm inclined to agree with you a little. _________________ Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn! |

I was hooked after Welcome to the Hellmouth, but the greatness of the show was very apparent in season one...Especially episodes Angel, The Pack and Prophecy Girl.
Angel was always missing a strong enough arc. And when they had one, they ALWAYS managed to screw it up by the last bunch of episodes. Also, Buffy's finale was infinitely more satisfying for me as a fan than Angel's. Angel's last season was too often loaded with stand alone episodes. |

Because the network complained about the massive arc of season four, I'm sure if Joss and co. knew it was gonna be the last season from the start it would've been different. |

I'm sure that's the case, but as a result it's still a season of Angel that relied to much on stand alone episodes. Know what I mean?
One of the perks of watching these shows is the mythology and continuity of the arcs, and allusions to past and future events. |
