I know someone whose daughter is a niece or cousin or something of Danny Trejo.

I have a great uncle named Johnny Walker....I'm actually not joking about this
I had an uncle named Homer.

Rodriguez shot a version where the kid doesn't get shot. There were added shots of the kid throughout the rest of the film that were easily cut out so he could decide to go either way. He obviously opted to shoot the kid.

A decision I'm happy with.

So much for Tom. IF you notice his voice squeals at a high octave as he gets ripped apart. An homage to Day of the Dead when Rickles gets his head ripped off near the end and his voice goes up as his vocal chords are ripped off.

Tarantino was in the script readings and would read some of the parts where the actors weren't present for. One of them was this role. He read it like Richie from From Dusk Till Dawn. Everyone agreed he should play the part.

The effects of Tarantino throwing up that ... thing ... and all of the tenticle type things come out was an homage to Carpenter's The Thing.
