No, that's Paul W. S. Anderson. Michael Bay is more like a dopier version of Tony Scott.

I'll never forget when I saw the trailer for the original BAD BOYS in 1995, which featured a veritable ton of slo-mo shots of Martin Lawrence and The Fresh Prince firing off guns and dodging explosions and the like while popping off painful one-liners.

I honestly thought at first that it was an AIRPLANE-esque parody of action films a la LOADED WEAPON. It was only toward the end of the trailer that I realized it was meant to be taken somewhat seriously.

Which was even funnier than a parody, in fact.

Speaking of Michael Bay... what would THE DARK KNIGHT be like if Bay had written and directed it?

Well, it might have read something like this...

That's one of the dumbest, most overstated spoofs I've ever read.

God, I love Michael Bay.

Yeah, I saw that quite a while back. It's nice that he has a self-deprecating sense of humor. With the kinds of films the guy has made, he certainly needs it.

That commercial is far and away the best thing that he has ever or will ever be involved with.

I somehow doubt he saw that as self-deprecating, at all.

Know what the best part about THE ROCK is?

The fact that Connery's character was sent to Alcatraz in 1962 for stealing microfilm regarding the Kennedy assassination... which occurred in 1963. Seriously. They didn't even catch that most basic of errors.

The movie is so lazily stupid and over the top ridiculous that even a couple of good performances can't save it. Yes, things go boom, but I can see that in a plethora of other, better movies. I obviously don't expect Paddy Chayefsky-level writing in a summer action film but come on... that's not even trying.

I was pissed that they killed off Michael Biehn. How fucking cool would it have been if Michael Biehn and Tony Todd got into a knife fight! But nooo, Michael Bay just had to dispose of his character just as they get to the island. And Tony Todd goes out like a bitch too. How retarded must you be to stand in front of a fuckin' rocket?!

I hear you. Biehn's always been a favorite of mine, and watching him get killed while Nic Cage runs around alive and well was just one of the things wrong with the movie. It was good, but too many little things added up for me. Oh well, at least he still gets work today, even if it's small roles.
