During the making of the movie, Stanley Kubrick would call Stephen King at 3:00 a.m. and ask him questions like "Do you believe in God?"

Sorry - but this kid is the scariest thing in this movie. I always thought it was Corey Feldman. I was wrong. But Jesus - he is CREEPY!

Stanley Kubrick's first choice to play Danny Torrence was Cary Guffey, the young boy from Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Guffey's parents apparently turned down the offer due to the film's subject matter.

Because Danny Lloyd was so young and since it was his first acting job, Stanley Kubrick was highly protective of the child. Through clever and creative directing, Danny didn't know he was working on a horror movie until after it was released.

Come to think of it he does look a little like Willard except with blonde hair. Big noggin.

Get it? "Check in?"

Neutral I got nothin'.

And that has been my Gory impression for the day. Have fun watching.

Moriarty or Voight would have been interesting choices but they wouldn't have had the appeal of Nicholson. He may seem a little unhinged to begin with but I always thought that added to the dread of what you thought was going to happen to Torrence.

Duvall is one of the things I don't really like in this, she's just so damn annoying, I was cheering for Jack to chop her up, heh
