SHARK SWARM on CBS NEWS!!!

Real Shark Crashes Set Of Shark Movie

Quote:
(CBS) PARADISE COVE, Calif. Production on a movie about sharks was halted Friday when a real shark showed up to check out the action, officials said.

Work on "Shark Swarm," a cable television movie starring Armand Assante, John Schneider and Daryl Hannah, came to a halt at about 2 p.m. because one of Paradise Cove's lifeguards saw a shark.

"The stunt guys were going into the water off a pier for a shot when the lifeguards spotted a 6-foot Mako shark," said propmaster George Hobbs.

Hobbs then joked to an actor that "if a real shark bites you, it will be the best shot in the movie."

Henry Blunt, a lifeguard for the privately owned cove north of Malibu, said, "It wasn't such a big deal but by protocol we have to call everyone out of the water. The shark looked around a couple of times and then took off and hasn't been seen since."

Nonetheless, production was halted for about 90 minutes, Hobbs said.

Capt. Terry Harvey with the county lifeguards said that Baywatch Malibu, a rescue vessel and a county Fire Department helicopter "did a quick check and saw nothing."

Was it likely there really was a shark?

"It's their habitat. They're out there," he shrugged.

"Shark Swarm" is about a developer who wants control of a fishing village called Full Moon Bay. To get control of the village, he poisons the water, which drives out all the fish and puts the local fishermen out of business.

But the same poison makes the sharks angry.

"I guess you could say it was a shark showing up on the set of a shark movie and stopping the shooting of the shark movie," Hobbs said.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING 6 FOOT MAKO!!!

Also, for all you shark fans, we just got mentioned on this cool site called SwimAtYourOwnRisk. It’s a site devoted to sharks in all forms of popular culture. They’ve even got their own shark forums with some horrific shark attack photos and some amazing images of great whites. Check it out!

I was out there visiting the set today when the Mako showed up. Pretty crazy stuff. It trolled around for a while and then took off. Maybe Armand Assante intimidated it away. Very Happy

Also saw a baby gray earlier in the day -- about three feet long.

I don't have the Hallmark channel. Is there another way to see this? (potential future DVD that you know of?)

There will indeed be a DVD of it (with uncut gore!) -- we'll make sure you get a copy.

Thank you! That's very cool of you guys. Congrats on the script, btw (I don't think I've said so yet).

All Situation Womb antics aside....

Congrats of you first major script. Even though I'm not really a shark movie fan, I will still watch this one primarily because you guys wrote it...

Granted I will probably proceed to lambast it from that point on buy hey....that's me. Wink

Seriously though....congrats and I hope it leads to bigger projects for you.

One question though....what kind of sharks are in the movie?

Thanks, NME, and no hard feelings.

As for sharks, we have Whites, Hammerheads, Bulls and Oceanic Whitetips. Basically, any shark that occasionally likes to makes us part of the food chain.

Heh....cool. Can't say I have ever seen a shark movie with mixed type sharks.....it's usually just a Great White or a Tiger or a prehistoric Megladon

nice Very Happy

Nope, Hallmark doesn't appreciate cunnilingus humor. Which is odd, 'cause a lot of their audience is women.

That's too bad. But I have little fear that it wont be awesome. This thing will rock. And the fact that you guys have various different sharks is awesome.

Congratulations guys. This is great news. I wish you all the success you can handle.

And to be perfectly honest this would be a movie I would be interested in seeing regardless.

Too bad about The Line. Does someone in power at least get to say "Close the beach? Close the beach! On the (insert holiday/event)? Are you insane!?"
