Larry Cohen was originally going to make 'I, The Jury' with Armand Assante but he got fired. Instead of sulking he went and made this film right away. He got about $1 million deom Sam Arkoff and just pushed on. It was made very gorrilla style. A lot of the scenes in the streets were done without permits.

Michael Moriarty plays the piano as a hobby which Larry Cohen found out on the set. When he did he wrote that into the movie. Moriarty loved that. He even wrote the little jazz song he plays.

David Carradine, who was friends with Cohen, arrived in New York wearing a suit as Cohen asked him. He pulled up tot he bar and was handed the script and they started shooting. Only on a Larry Cohen movie. Laughing
