I like it but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere at all.....
I will keep watching though....
I can't stand the actor who plays Sean though....worst fucking acting ever!
I am pretty sure that John is supposed to be Jesus Christ
also....it needs more surfing |

I'm really hoping he's not Jesus -- that would just be too obvious. _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

I'm not taking anything for granted yet. NME's right though, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere... BUT... I can't stop watching!! _________________ "I will show you fear in a handful of dust." - T.S. Eliot

My wife stopped watching it with me 2 episodes back, and since then whenever she asks what happened in the episode I just watched, I just tell her, "Nothing."
Because basically over the 50 min of each episode basically nothing happens. _________________ Open your textbooks to the chapter concerning your death. |

I feel the same way. It's high on my "must see" list every week even though I have no idea what I'm watching! Butchie and Bill are my favorite two characters for sure. _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

Any predictions on what will happen to Sean? |

I don't think predictions can be made for this show. It's that fucking out there and conventional rules don't seem to apply.
The only problem with it is that most folks are turned off by its weirdness and as a result I doubt we're gonna get a second season.
If they didn't renew Carnivale, John's a goner for sure.
Hope everything gets wrapped up!
I've got my eye on YOU! |

I agree but lets hope they don't cheese on the ending like they did with Carnivale....
I don't know, Butchie instead... |

I think it's possible that John is not Jesus but instead John the Baptist. John does a lot of prophetizing (not really a word I suppose). I think Shaun is more likely the Christ-figure: healing powers (the bird) and coming back from the (brain) dead. Or he could be an Anti-Christ figure swapping out the Holy Virgin Mother for a Pornstar Whore.
John's cryptic message, "Shaun will soon be gone," implies Shaun's eventually ascension to the afterlife much like Christ did after spending a short time on Earth after his resurrection with the Apostles. So maybe John is warning them he will soon leave them and whatever purpose they all serve through Shaun they must do it soon. Some have already made changes in their lives through Shaun: Butchie's back in the water, Tina is trying to be a better person. _________________ Open your textbooks to the chapter concerning your death. |

I also thought about him being John the Baptist.....it would fit.
I would rather he was Satan though and Seanie is the anti-Christ
One can only hope.... |

I have no well formulated predictions, but I too would love to see Satan involved somehow. _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

While I can't disagree with how awesome an NME,,,er, Satan storyline would be awesome, there just hasn't been enough nefarious business at hand the warrant his Darkness's arrival.
Have you noticed, though, the very casual approach these characters take to supernatural phenomena? Steady Freddy treated his dream like it was an everyday thing, Bill justifies bringing the bird along for the psychic messages, not to mention Butchie's smoking implants and Mitch's levitation. _________________ Open your textbooks to the chapter concerning your death. |
