I coulnd't believe that the physcial sets of R'lyeh are actually made out of cardboard. They made the most of what was available and did an awesome job.

I don't think it's possible to show R'lyeh in any way that would match it's decription in the writing.

I totally agree. That's what I was trying to say before. A lot of what HPL was describing was meant to be vague and so utterly alien to our conception of the universe that it could never be done justice.

Even the languages he made up words for were supposed to be comprised of sounds that human vocal chords were impossible to duplicate.
