Ok, I was just down at my local FNGS, and I coudl not believe what I layed my eyes upon! WizKids is releasing a series of Clix with a horror theme. After doing mage Knight, Hero Clix and Mechwarrior in Clix forms, now Horror Clix is coming... and they are starting off with a HUGE bang!
From all the Mage night fogures, a few larger form ones have appeared. Once they hit with Hero Clix, the Sentinal was large, and Galactus was just Huge. But even though Galactus might be a smidge taller, he is nowhere enar as impressive as their latest masterpiece. Cthulhu as a Horror Clix is amazing to look at.
Here is a link to their Horror Clix gallery site...

Some deep ones and other lovecraftian goodness there. There is even a team for R'yleh, but it isn;t that little avatar of Cthulhu we are interested in, it is the big guy himself.
And here he is.......

WOW! Just Wow! |

I didn't care for it personally; seen it at Wizard World Chicago (disappointing on a whole this year). Wasn't a big fan of the eyes or the pot-belly; and it looks like too many tentacles.
Also, if you're only looking at it for a statue or collectible be aware that it has the HorrorClix dial in the base (which was the really deal-breaker for me). _________________ "Zombies don't kill, they recruit."

I started playing HorrorClix recently and have found it a lot of fun. Nice to get back into something collectable.
Anyway, my local Walking Man store has gotten about 10 of the Great Cthulhu figs in and JESUS CHRIST is it a beaut! Fucking HUGE with about 4 dials including cultists. Honestly, it's worth it even if you don't play HorrorClix...it would simply look amazing on display. Got my birthday coming up and it's a toss-up between the Cthulhu fig and Crackdown for the Xbox 360....shall have to see which one the other half procures. |

it's a game. the stats are in the base of the figure so as you play, you dont have to write anything down..i think? never really played before. _________________ It's times like these when I think of the words of Socrates when he said...I drank what? |

Nomad almost got it down pat.
It's a collectible tabletop game. You buy booster packs with random figures in, each of which has its game stats printed on the base.
In HorrorClix you have all kinds of figures including ghosts, demons, zombies, vampires etc etc and you're fighting the other team to claim victims and earn points. Adding to this you have a Crypt of cards to hinder your opponents' attempts to kill victims, who pump up some of your characters' stats depending on their abilities.
Each time a creature takes damage, you click the base a number of turns. This can open up some awesome powers on the way round, or leave them dormant for one or more turns before they come back with a vengeance for one last attack, just like many of our favourite movie slashers.
It's great fun, and certainly recommended for those rainy evenings with a good slasher movie on. |
