I'm 17 hours into Resident Evil 4, with more to go.
I had no idea the game was this long. I thought at one point that I was walking into the final battle, that was at hour 13. It just keeps going and going and going. But the game is very awesome and a total action packed adventure.
I love the part where you have to go into underground mines. After fighting creatures in the mines, you hop into a mine car, actually 3 mine cars hooked together. And in a scene straight out of Temple of Doom you go through this wild mine car ride as monsters and people jump down into the cars. You have to fight them off and shoot them as the cars speed down the twisting track. There are even beams in the ceiling where you have to duck.
The monsters hit the beam and get thrown off the cars. It is very very fast.
Then the cars stop at a junction, the monsters hit some break on the track. You fight off about a dozen of them, then have to shoot the track break to get the car going again. Then more fighting, as the cars go faster and faster. After two minutes of this the tracks come to an end. And you have to press certain action buttons at the right time to jump out of the car as it ramps off into space and you grab the other side of the broken track and pull yourself up. Completely awesome and well designed. After it was over I was just standing on the track in shock trying to put together everything that had just happened in the last 3 minutes.
Another Temple of Doom part is the spike rooms. These spike ceilings start closing down on you and you have to shoot parts of the roof to make it stop.
There are some very big boss fights in the game. One monster can only be hurt if you throw liquid nitrogen on it and freeze it, like the T-1000 in T2.
And the giant Salazar stone statue that chases me across the bridge was damn cool.
I'm like 18 hours in and I'm not even at the island yet.

I hope somebody can clear this up for me.

I had Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube and beat it in 1 week and traded the game in.

My question is .... Is the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 the same as the Gamecube version?

Are there things in the PS2 version thats not in the Gamecube version?

I own the PS2 version and I don't know the differences.
Mine has a whole extra storyline of Ada Wong missions.
Leon and Ashley have different costumes that can be unlocked. Leon gets a 'zoot suit' and Ashley gets a suit of armor.
There might be some extra stuff with mercenary missions.

Thanks for the link. Thumbs Up

From what i read the only new thing from the PS2 version that kinda caught my attention is the Separate Ways mini-game that you play as Ada Wong and you get to play out what she does behind the scenes as Leon is playing.

The rest i could give a rats ass about.

New costumes for Leon and Ashley means crap to me. I dunno

Don't get me wrong i loved playing Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube but in my opinion i'm not coughing up extra money for the PS2 version when i already beat it on the Gamecube.

I was hoping the PS2 version would have had wayyyyyy more and better things than what the Gamecube version had.

I'm at the fight with Krauser on the island.
I'm almost done with the game!! Very Happy
I can't believe how long this game is. I have over 21 hours logged in on it.
RE4 for PS2 is now 20 bucks brand new in stores.
For any of you wondering if they should buy it.....YES!! You get a LOT of game for your 20 bucks.
Once I beat the game, I have the Ada Wong missions to get through.

I've also beaten it 4 times...Still great fun each time. The only RE game that comes close is RE2.

Since I sacrificed a busted PS2* for an Xbox, and have no guilt over the decision, I'm still waiting for RE4 to hit the PC. Whatever year that would be :/.

This has actually become my favorite in the franchise, knocking RE2 to...well, number two. Great graphics, awesome gameplay and one hell of a great plot. And I was one of the nay-sayers when I heard there would be no zombies. Man, those villagers were actually creepy as hell... Shocked

Agreed 100%...Though I would KILL for a 360'ed remake of RE2...And for the person that said Halo is the best series of all time...Eh, no...Not even close...First of all RE is better, RE4 alone is better...But none of them hold a candle to Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

I replayed it three times, once with the girl in the suit of armour because keeping her safe was a breeze and the final and third time with the infinate rocket launcher.
Once I got over the hang up of the zombies actually being parasitic villagers I was OK with it.

GREAT GAME!

It's coming out at the end of February in Australia and Europe. No set date for the US though.

I'm starting to get pissed that there isn't any news on Resident Evil 5 yet. Give me something, anything! Just think of how sweet the graphics will be!

Yeah, Resident Evil 4 kicks ass! They finally got the controls down perfectly and the enemies are sick as all hell!

I can't wait for 5. I hope it does come out on 360 because I have one. I'm not throwing away 700 dollars for Sony. Screw them!

Annoyed
