Thoughts?

I sincerely hope this isn't another case of Asian horror directors coming stateside with their talent only to have it watered down to the nth degree.

In the case of the Pangs, there's not much talent to water down. After seeing many of their films, it's pretty obvious 'The Eye' was a fluke (and even then, that's not saying much).

I can't say that I have seen any of the The Pang bros. stuff but that trailer looked like shit.

Small rant....

Who would have guessed that Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures would turn out to be the genre company that most panders to the lowest common denominator/teeny bopper crowds. I remember when he and Tapert and Co. started the shingle that they were "doing this because we love horror and want to work with directors who love horror." Riigghtt...they are doing it because they love cash.

I mean Bay's Platinum Dunes has more respect for the genre and viewer than Raimi's company. And that's fucking nuts.

Why would you expect anything less? Sam doesn't even really like horror films, so the fact that Ghost House has turned into something of a "scary picture" factory for the Seventeen jet set shouldn't be too surprising.

As for the Pang brothers, Sirand pretty much nailed it. There's not much there to corrupt and Americanize. I've yet to like any of their pictures and I really doubt that will change with this one.

Familar ? Sure.

Stylish ? Looks it.

Anticipating ? I am. There are some bristling little visuals in there: the legs in the bed, the scuttling thing in the barn, the crows.

Sure, the execrable Boogeyman also had a pretty effective trailer if I remember right. But I like The Eye and awful lot and its sequels and the Bankok pictures all possessed a pronounced flair but were sunk by their dull screenplays.

I'm wondeing if Smilin' Jack has seen the finished picture and whether he's happy with it.

Count me very interested.

I don't really read fangoria.

I kinda want to see it.

I haven't seen the trailer either. I just wouldn't mind seeing another ghostie story. Laughing

Eh, this looks pretty terrible from the trailer and all the tv spots I've seen, and I haven't read anything favorable about it either, so this will be a rental at the most for me.

The Pang Brothers are hacks. Not only that, but they were fired. I heard something like three other directors came in to tinker with it.

I'll pass.

Gotta defend the Pangs. My only critism is their Woo homage. Eye(EVEN OVERATED) is still great, E2-I fucking love and even Eye10-has merits. But, and I make no bones about it, Re-Cycle is a masterpiece. To call Pangs a hack-really, that's not too acurate.

OK...I heard more details. I was mistaken.

Except about the Pang Bros being hacks. Twisted Evil
