Some things we know about the last episode "Doomsday":

THESE ARE INTERNET SPECULATIONS/FACTS...

POSSIBLE SPOILERS (Read at your own risj):

BTW...I know what is true and not true, but I ain't telling...

Mickey Smith returns
Pete Tyler returns
Jake Simmonds returns
The Cybermen return
The Cybermen appear to be crossing over from the alternate universe last seen in "Rise of the Cybermen"/"The Age of Steel" (they all have the Cybus Industries logo on their chest)
The Cybermen are now armed with guns, both internal and external
People are seen wearing EarPods
Overwhelming evidence suggests the Daleks return (in the trailer, a woman is shot from the sky by what appears to be a Dalek ray gun)
Evidence appears to suggest that the Cybermen and Daleks do not unite, they fight a war against each other, with Torchwood in the middle defending the human race
The ghosts appear to come from behind the Moon and descend to Earth, referred to as "ghost shifts"
People who have encountered the ghosts go missing and the ghosts appear to have the faces of dead loved ones
This is the last appearance of Rose Tyler for the time being - we do not yet know if she lives or dies
Rose appears to disguise herself, as she wears a lab coat in parts of the trailer
The Doctor and Rose sing the Ghostbusters theme tune badly
The Doctor appears to be carrying a Ghostbusters-style backpack, which includes something that looks like a Dalek plunger
At various points, the Doctor will be seen wearing 3D glasses
Jackie accidentally travels in the TARDIS
The TARDIS is initially identified by Torchwood as containing a ghost and a being with two hearts
The TARDIS is taken into security by the Torchwood Institute - "if it's alien, it's ours"
Most of the episode takes place in Torchwood Tower, which is run by Yvonne Hartman (Tracy-Ann Oberman)
Raji James appears as Dr. Singh
Freema Agyeman, who plays Adeola, is rumoured to be the Doctor's new companion after Rose, although a couple of rumours deny this
Barbara Windsor, Alistair Appleton, Trisha Goddard and Derek Acorah all have cameos in at least one of the two episodes
Notably, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Raji James and Barbara Windsor have all starred in EastEnders, but only Windsor appears to be parodying her character directly - she is seen throwing the ghost of Dirty Den out of the Queen Vic
Christopher Eccleston appears in a brief flashback as the Doctor in the pre-credits sequence, taken from "Rose", episode 1
The giant sphere in Torchwood Tower is weightless, exists outside of time and space and terrifies the Doctor
Army of Ghosts will end with what is presumed to be the revelation of what is contained within the giant sphere
Doomsday will end with a huge cliffhanger

Supposedly that one has been proven false.

John Barrowman (Capt. Jack) is supposedly filming the spin off show "Torchwood."

Also, word from RTD says Jack WILL be back in Season 3, but definitely not season 2.

Anything can happen, though.

Personally...I'm holding out for a return of Davros. Laughing

I heard Barrowman will be armed with THE LINE when he returns to Doctor Who.

Why I do NOT think Rose will die (even though I hate her):

I can forgive all newer folks watching Doctor Who to think Rose is just the greatest, but some of us, with varied Dr. Who companions under our belts, know that Rose is just a half step up from Adric.

And that, is not a compliment.

Rose is just Chav scum, and Billie Piper is horrid in the part, with her gargantuan mouth that never seems to be able to close, to her "Wot, gov'na wots all dis den!" accent, to her superior, smug snide attitude.

Companions should turn out to be better people when traveling with the Doctor. Their good attributes should come to the forefront. They should become better people...

Not self important, in your face know it alls like Rose has become.

Now... rant semi-over...but Sarah, Jo or Tegan Rose is not!

Anyway...here's why Rose will not die in the season finale (much to my chagrin):

This whole season has been about "coming together."

With Mickey finding his place in the universe and finally getting his Grandmother back, to evil Cassandra reliving herself in true human form, to the ordinary people becoming extraordinary due to the Doctor, to even Rose seeing her dead father (yet) again...

This is about renewal and rebirth.

Not death, even though it is with us more than ever.

The season, especially the last few stories have been setting us up for a huge fall, to the point of expressly saying that Rose will die.

That is a red herring.

Rose will not die, simply because she is either

A) already dead (remember the Heart of the TARDIS she absorbed at the end of season 1? And how there was no Rose in alternate Earth? She was already here! Maybe...)

or B) Her family will be reunited.

I think B... because The next episode "Army of Ghosts" you see 'ghosts' in our world, which are actually the alternate universe people coming through to our dimension...

notice how the Cybermen have Lumic's Cybus logo on them?

Well did you notice the Dalek extermination effect in the previews?

Trust me...Daleks and Cybermen are NOT the big suprise...

but who are they working for, or who is using them?

Hmmmmm?

But that is a different SPOILER, so I won't say what I KNOW here....

but what I will say is that I THINK Rose will be reunited with her father...again...and Jackie, Rose and Rose's father will be one big happy family, and Rose will NOT die, but stay behind.

The point of traveling with the Doctor is that we see it through Rose's eyes: That it is a glorious adventure with danger and excitement....they wouldn't kill her off...

Or would they?

Major spoiler.

Mickey will be coming back since he's supposed to be on Torchwood.

Yeah, that was what I was referring to when I posted that long post.

I found out about this last week or so.

I didn't want to say anything directly in case I ruined it for anyone. Very Happy

SPOILERS, obviously...
.
.
.
.
.

The Army of Ghosts are Cybermen, The Daleks are in the Sphere, and Mickey comes back into our dimension.

That is it, folks.

anyway...

Amazing that many of fan's theories are so much better than what actually transpires on screen. I've heard that the Sphere has Davros or The Master in it...The Daleks are controlling the Cybermen, and SOMEONE else is controlling them...

Instead we get that the "ghosts" are Cybermen trying to cross over from the Altername universe into ours, and the Sphere has Daleks in it.

Wow... pretty standard and boring stuff in my mind.

It was executed pretty good, if a bit workman like, and it was a good , entertaining episode... if a bit of a let down.

Seems like instead of an inteligent, shocking, unpredictable story they are going for some battle scenes of poorly CGI done Cybermen and Daleks to win us over.

That's fine, but I was really hoping for a story with thrills and twists and turns.

So far, I have yet to get that.

(And a small nitpick... how can the advance guard of Cybermen be wotking smack in the middle of Torchwood...only separated by sheets of plastic? C'mon...)

And it seems to be only 4 Daleks, and not a whole army...so far.

The "Genesis Arc?" A new weapon the Daleks are searching for? Hmmmm.

If there is a God, it will be Davros, but we all know that won't happen.

All in all, it held my attention, and some good stuff was in it, but I felt a bit let down on this episode's cliffhanger.

I just hopenext episode is gangbusters.

Damn. I'd rather see Doctor Who get canceled again than just churn out lackluster episodes. I hope they hire some better writters for season three.
