I know there's a topic on "A Scanner Darkly," but I was curious if Linklater has any fans around here.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this cat is a pure genius. His films are deep, complex, philosophical, entertaining, and extremely memorable.

I'll ignore "Bad News Bears," and give you my top five films from Linklater.

1. Waking Life
2. Dazed and Confused
3. Before Sunrise
4. Before Sunset
5. Tape

I personally can't wait for "A Scanner Darkly," but these films are what I consider utterly brilliant. While Dazed and Confused was an entertaining bit of nostalgia, the other four are excellent pieces of dialogue motivated drama.

"Waking Life" in particular blew me the fuck away. It retains its value on repeated viewings.

ANyone else?

Hate his films. Typical self-indulgent indie crap. No stories, no real characters, just monologue after painful monologue.

Kevin Smith did better just by emulating him.

I disagree. Oh yes, do I disagree.

Which films have you seen from him?

Screw that Sirand guy. He don't know shit. Pucker up!

Linklater is a genius. Waking Life is one of my all-time faves as, of course, are the "Before" films.

You MUST see Scanner, Terminal. It'll really blow you away.

That kissy better have been meant for your hubby, or he gon' be pissed!

Haha.

I agree. I think Linklater's films actually have stories and incredible characterization.

I've never seen "Scanner," but based on your recommendation, I'll check it out.

And the "Before" series is ten times better than bullshit like "The Break Up," and "Maid in Manhattan."

Is this really how DC Staff are supposed to act?

You people should know better. You should set an example for people like me. We're horror fans, and we're film critics, god damn it. Start acting like them.

Sirand, stop being a douche, Cthulhu stop antagonizing, and WIB, stop agreeing that I have great taste. I already know that.

Now, you three will play nice and stop fucking up my topic, or I'm going to call your mothers and complain to your Uncle. You know which Uncle I refer to.

Shame on you

It's understandable. She and I are like twins separated at birth -- about 20 years apart. Laughing
