I'm not at all opposed to tie-in novels and even less so now that more and more name writers are getting into the game of writing them. Must have something to do with the state of the market for real, original horror novels ... Anyway, I certainly wouldn't mind picking up a Freddy or Jason or Jason X book. I did consider THE JASON STRAIN but then I saw that it uses that annoying "reality TV" setting which just seems so dated and stupid. Anyone one remember a set of Friday the 13th teen novels from the early '90s, that were written in the vein of Fear Street and other RL Stine books?

I think there were four of them, and if I remember right the first one was called "Mother's Day." If memory serves me correctly they dealt with Jason's mask be passed around from person to person.

The Buffy tie in books were really good. At least the first ones were. Especially the ones involving Christopher Golden.

These were real fans of the show and a lot of the writers had good handles on the characters. There were a few that didn't . . . But, hey, those often ended up not writing another book.
