What are the most disturbing scenes of incest you have seen in a film?

I'll have to think about that one and then pot my answer later, since I seem to be drawing a blank right now.

With the exception of Island of Death I'm kind of drawing a blank.

Well, off the top of my head, I felt rather dirty with Visitor Q. LOVE the god damn movie. Miike is the man.

*SPOILERS*

After Oldboy, I was by far disgusted with myself. One of my favorite movies of all time. The emotions involved throughout pull you in, then the twist slaps you in the balls.

ANGELS & INSECTS had an incest thing going on, with one scene that I didn't really need to see. and of course in AMERICAN HAUNTING we see the girl reliving her molestation--but, if we start counting molestation(s), the list here's really going to, um, bloom (was going to say 'swell,' but, I don't know. 'get longer' isn't any better. can't think of anything unwrong, really). I guess if THE BAD PLACE ever gets movified, that 'incest' scene (where the mom impregnates herself) will have to be artfully rendered, to say the least. and OEDUPIS has to have been made into a movie at SOME point, yes? and, I guess if we're to accept that 'stabbing' is the ultimate expression of sexual repression, then Jamie Lee's bro in PROM NIGHT had some fairly serious issues. to say nothing of Michael Myers (and Jason, killing all his cousins). and, too, the Reese/John Connor-thing has always seemed incestuous to me. not in the direct, sexual sense, but in the sense that it's a closed loop, feeding on itself. but of course, maybe, the ultimate OFF-scene incest, that'd maybe be CHINATOWN. as for the most cooly rendered, however, I'd go for that X-FILES epi where those backcountry, Elvis-drenched social castaways keep their mom in a crawlspace, and only bring her out when it's breeding time.

anyway, of course, incest, being one of built-in (rather than acquired) taboos, I'd guess representations of it are just going to persist and persist, at all levels (dramatic, thematic, whatever else there is...). I mean, Spielberg even flirted with it, in BACK TO THE FUTURE. if that's not a marker of its saturation, then I don't know what could be.

Hmm..besides Oldboy of course.

There was Prom Night II, where the girl comes on to her father. Of course she was possessed at the time...

I don't remember incest in Mordum. And the incest in Caligula was pretty G rated.

Caligula, I could have sworn that movie had some pretty insane incest, but it has been a few years since Ive seen it so what do I know. I'll have to pull it out and watch it again.

Mordum, had a scene of incest in the beginning, Crusty and Maggot were supposed to be brother and sister, at least this is from what I remember. Again though, I haven't seen a lot of these movies in quite sometime. I t looks like I have some revisiting to do. Very Happy

Alright. You may be right about Mordum. I didn't recall hearing that, which i why I didn't assume there was any incest. So you're probably right there.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Amityville Horror II yet. That was one of the first sexually "twisted" feelings I had as a pubescent horror lover watching it on video.

I knew it was wrong, AND YET I COULDN'T LOOK AWAY!

Probably not as twisted, but didn't Flowers in the Attic have some of that bro/sis action as well?

Yeah, it's hard to look at a baby bottle the same way after that.

Nice avatar. That's what happens when you let your children toy with the key to the gates of hell. Wink
