it still doesn`t feel right to me.I was in high school when the series was on nbc and I still don`t see the need for the reedits.to me a movie or tv show is like a time capsule.it should not be altered.warts and all.

I watched the some of original unaltered episodes on tvland last friday night.they looked good enough to me.as I have said before a tv show or movie is like a time capsule.it should be shown only in its original form.

I look at it this way you can always get the unaltered episodes on DVD today, or see it on G4 or TV Land in November. I'm changing my opinion now after seeing some behind the scenes footage of a CBS promotional video on YouTube. They want to preserve the original look and at the same time give a facelift, a digitally re-mastered episode looks ten times better picture wise, and to be honest I don't think Gean would object. There also not going to go all CGI crazy like George Lucas did to the original Star Wars. Hopefully it gets people excited about Star Trek again, maybe some young people will see it as before they couldn't get past the toy model looking ships on TV.

Hey, I'm not a Star Trek geek, but this is one of the reasons why I hate Viacom. They can never leave well enough alone. MTV was going great and then it became the Numbskull channel! 101.1 was a great fifties station and then they turned it into another idiotic music channel. And now this. Oy.

I did see two episodes this past weekend of the re-mastered versions and even though it wasn't broadcast in HD the picture quality does look great when it comes to bright colors and sound. As for the CGI, all they did was copy the same original unaltered space shots with a more movable CGI Enterprise. The photon torpedos are a bright blue, which the light reflects off the surface of the ship when fired. A more accurate looking Earth on the view screen in the "Miri" episode is added. If you had to really count how long you see the enhancements on-screen it would come down to 16 to 18 seconds(depending on the episode). So really they did respect the original material but it seems people wanted to see more and were not impressed.
