I remember the first time I heard Tool. I was a sophmore in High School. The song was StinkFist. I was reading a vampire novel at the time.

I remember hearing Maynard's voice for the first time, the, "It's not enough, I want more, I need to feel to be . . ." line and I got SHIVERS damn it. Along with that base line . . . I was hooked and there's been no turning back.

The first time I heard A Perfect Circle was "Judith". Again, Manyard's voice. At first I thought it was Tool, but the music was different. It had a different feel, but was still great.

Plus any song that has the line, "Fuck your God," and disses Christianity gets my vote.

So, anyone else Maynard fans here?

I use to sing my son to sleep with Tool songs. I love every single tune they come he comes up with, Tool or APC.

Huge fan of both here. Just biding my time to see if Tool will be hitting the Southern states after they get back from Europe.

God I hope so. I live in Indiana so . . . I'd love to see a Tool concert.

So, what does everyone think of the new "10,000 Days" CD?

I don't like it as well as "Lateralus", but it's good stuff. I really like "Vicarious" and "10,000" days.

I liked 10,000 Days. Just wish Maynard would have recorded his lyrics a bit louder. You can barely hear him at times.

10,000 Days was like Lateralus to me, not much of a impression but I grew to love it.

That's just Maynard though. That's part of the beauty of his vocals. He can go from being so whisper soft and haunting that you can't hear him then suddenly ROAR into the loud, intense almost screaming vocals. Not only is his voice absoultely gorgeous and haunting, he's got range and knows how to use it for the best effect.

Doesn't hurt that Tool has an AWESOME Bass player too.

I must admit that I didn't like 10,000 Days as much as I did Lateralus. I'm probably one of those who loved Lateralus from the get go. It's very ambent and more abstract than Ademia or Undertow. Even though I have to admit Stinkfist was the song that got me into the band.

And if APC decides to do some more covers, I'd KILL to hear them do Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper". I'd sacrifice my left toe to hear Maynard sing that song.

Musically, I can dig both bands. Some really tasty grooves, there.

Maynard, however... not so much. He's like the prog-rock answer to Stevie Nicks.

Lateralus is definitely my favorite too. I was a fan before, but that one really sealed the deal.

The first three Tool albums (ok, two albums and one ep) are all excellent. APC had some good stuff on their debut. Other than that, pretentious garbage.

Yeah but you can barely hear that range on 10,000 Days. His vocals are all but completely drowned out. It's not like that on any other tool or APC album.
