Showing my age here ...

Now that we've had about 30 years to evaulate if disco really "sucked".

Did it?

If you are a "closet" Wink fan like me, what was your favorite disco song?

I was always partial to KC and the Sunshine Band. They always seemed to be the tape in my portable 8-track player.

Fav song: "Get down tonight!" or the Bee Gees' "You should be dancing"

I hate disco. it killed most of the album rock that started about 1965 .when disco started to get popular less of the quality album rock was put out by the lables and dance music became the thing.it is still that way even though it is not in the form of disco.

man, I can't seem to get it cut 'n pastable, but a few months ago, in a(nother) disco frenzy, I rigged up a CD of all the best disco songs. I listen to that CD a lot more than's healthy, too. man, though, in the late seventies, I mean, yeah, I was seven in 79, okay, but still, all over my wall were KISS album covers, and in my mouth were blood pellets from 7-11, but in my 8-track player, it was Barry Gibbs & Co.

as for disco ball stuff, this is pretty cool: http://32fps.com/i2/aliensong2.MPG

(at least I hope that's the link--supposed to be some green thing singing I Will Survive, I think; no time to check it right now, though).

Disco Inferno rocks. Burn, baby, burn.
When I was a kid I had a record called Disco Duck with some duck character (Donald Duck voice ripoff) introducing all these disco tunes.
Donna Summer had lots of disco goodness.
K.C. and the Sunshine Band, obviously.
And the Saturday Night Fever album is entertaining enough to pull out and listen to every once in a great while.

The best disco is the one that dares to be melancolic, dares to let in the sorrow into the dancefloor. There and then brilliance can be created.

But sadly enough disco is probably one of the genres with the most crap in comparision to the good stuff.
