Since Glenn Ford died, I found myself thinking about one of my favorite movies of all time, "Blackboard Jungle."

If you're not aware, it stars Glenn Ford as a teacher who begins teaching at an inner city school. There, he discovers how the lower class lives and finds himself being harassed by Vic Morrow who begins tampering with his relationship with his wife and assaulting him.

This film was considered very hard edged at the time, and featured the spectacular song "Rock Around the Clock."

It all leads to a stand off with he and Vic Morrow in the class room.

This is a wonderful dark film, and there are great performances by Poitier, Morrow, and Ford respectively.

I just saw this again the other day. It's the top of the heap of the "troubled high school" films. And Glenn Ford was one of the finest actors to ever step in front of a camera. Neutral

This is a major opposite to "To Sir with Love," that's for sure.

No disrespect to Poitier, but I prefer more realistic films like "Blackboard Jungle" which have a happy ending, but nothing truly saccharine.

No one really wins at the end of this film. And that scene with the records was devastating.

I've seen this movie, but only once. In 1993 for a college class.
It is the only other movie where I've seen Vic Morrow.
The other is his tragic role in Twilight Zone: The Movie.
I'd like to see this movie again.
My teacher liked B.J. so much. And he told us the story of how he went into a bar and saw Vic Morrow drinking. He told him that he loved Blackboard Jungle and he got to hang out and drink with him.
