The director said he was first drawn to the script because it was so much like King Kong. In that a band of men go into the jungle to hunt something, only to find out that what they're hunting is way bigger then they are and end up having to turn tail and run.

the director wanted him in the role because arnold was so new, he felt having a strong actor to play against would raise his game.

the director hated whenever he had to use a blue screen because he felt the technicians would overwhelm/distract the actors resulting in a dead scene.

insurance for the film insisted that a body guard be hired for Sonny. Not to protect him, but to protect other people from him.
