It's called The Definitive Horror Music Collection.
4 CD's worth of themes from all kinds of horror flicks most of it performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Musically it covers orchestral, experimental, electronic and prog rock. Guess the theme as you listen is the game.
Sounds fucking awesome to me.
a review.

Did they? Well fuck I don't know how I miss so much around here. They are a machine. Anyway, I want to try and get this. |

Just got this and have started backwards with disc 4 1976 - 1922
I'm only on track one right now, The Omen, holy crap it sounds even better than I imagined it would. I love the score from The Omen. Such a lost art in filmmaking today. |

| Didn't think I'd remember Young Frankenstein - Transylvanian Lullaby but how can a person forget? Sounded great. This is a way cooler version of Tubular Bells than I've ever heard before. |

| The last several have stumped me honestly but Rosemary's Baby - Lullaby is great with its la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la. And is followed up perfectly with Twisted Nerve - Suite. |

| The Devil Rides Out - The Power of Evil is some classic, ominous horror film music and Dracula, Prince of Darkness - Suite is just as evil but much more subtle. |

Wow. Fourth disc done and it was awesome. Now I'm on Disc 3 1983-1977 my absolute favorite time period of horror.
ANOES opens things and it's really interesting already to hear the evolution of the music.
Yeah. Bad to the Bone isn't quite right but it's not as bad as I was expecting either. |

| Poltergeist isn't all that exciting but the theme from The Thing is badass and is definitely a highpoint in horror music in the 80's . Then into Halloween II which is just as sweet and I think is probably the most widely recognizeable music for non-horror fans. |

The Fog, JC is all over this, Dressed To Kill and now The Shining. The opening theme to the Shining is scary enough set to the beautiful backdrop but this more stringy stuff that everyone would recognize seriously puts me on edge.
I know this is all newly recorded but it sounds so good and is so perfect that most of the time I don't think I would be able to distinguish this from the originals. |

And they knocked it out of the park with the Alien theme. Wow, wow, wow, I'm listening to that one again. Before that Phantasm and before a movie called Dracula which I'm scratching my head about. I've never heard the theme so I know I haven't seen the movie I can't really think of what it is.
Alien is love though. |
