Ever been scared by music that wasn't necessarily designed to scare you?
I remember hearing Bitches Brew for the first time and feeling really unsettled by the title track. I'm sure it wasn't the intention of Miles and his musicians to instil that kind of feeling in the listener but I found there were moments in that piece of music that really unnerved me. Just the sound of that bass clarinet, or when Miles states the theme of the piece with all that echo, followed by that descending bass line. Ooooohh, shudders!
I know someone who used to get creeped out by Cat Stevens singing Moonshadow, too. |
