And, as quickly as it was there, it is gone.

From Gamespot.com

Unfortunately, one of the coolest, and perhaps biggest, no-brainer options one could have on the 360 version isn't available in this year's game. You can't use custom soundtracks stored on the 360 hard drive as theme music for created wrestlers. Considering how that was one of the few redeeming features of THQ's previous wrestling efforts on the Xbox, it seems like a major oversight.

And the game takes it's big step back from me buying it.

Hoookay.....Let me go through this list here and see what's what:

PROBLEM 1: Since when is Shane McMahon a GODDAMNED legend? Seriously, this is almost as offensive as them giving us three Hogans before. Someone, somewhere is kissing some serious ass. Shane McMahon is a legend ONLY in his own mind. That being said, I am glad we didn't get the whole McMahon family, so I guess I really should be glad it's only Shane-O Mac.

PROBLEM 2: Repetition! AGAIN with the Hogan, Piper, Rock, and Austin. How bout giving us a roster of Legends that HASN'T been in the last several games? Wouldn't THAT make things more interesting? Think about all the Legends that have yet to be seen even ONCE. Pillman, Bossman, Big John Studd, One Man Gang, Kamala, Tito Santana, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Demolition, Harley Race, Arn Anderson, Razor Ramon, the list goes on and on. So why are we STILL getting some of the same Legends again and again? This seems to smack of pure laziness.

PROBLEM 3: Tazz should be on the active roster, or a hidden, unlockable main character, NOT a Legend. Unless, of course, we remove Austin, Rock, Piper, and Hogan, and replace them with Sandman, Dreamer, Steve Corino, and Terry Funk.

Hell, that's not a bad list, don't get me wrong. Just could use some tweaking, that's all.

I know. See above. But we DID get Bam Bam Bigelow. Which means I can create Major Payne and/or Lawrence Taylor and use them to kick his ass.

THAT should provide some amusement! Mr. Green

I agree with a lot of that, especially the ECW legends. I was hurt that there will be no ECW representation in the game, especially since there were rumors floating around that ECW would play a big part in the game. No such luck. I would have loved to have had ECW originals Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Terry Funk, and Sabu added on with Bam Bam, Taz, and Cactus Jack. But I understand why certain Legends are repeated year after year now, and it has to do with the fact that the average fan plays with them the most. Personally, I'm pissed that Ricky Steamboat hasn't been represented yet. Plus, some of the guys you mentioned, like Harley Race and Corino, will probably have nothing to do with licensing their likeness to WWE.

Now, I have read an interesting idea online that should at least be considered. Since the Legends Of Wrestling brand has gone into the trash, why not have the WWE release their own individual Legends game, a game that would recapture the classic representation of WWF and the territories that stood before it (especially considering they practically own the names of most of them)?

And I want Kamala just because it'll give me an excuse now to create NANA!! Very Happy

Chainsaw, that idea is PURE GENIOUS! Why, just thinking of all the names and likenesses the WWE owns really DOES make it a headscratcher as to why they haven't put out a game like this yet.

I'd love to see the old wCw Saturday Night ring again....or even the AWA ring. With their current graphics and engine, it's be a must buy, hands down.

I can't take credit for the idea. Personally, I'd like to see the game happen, because then they can keep Legends off of my game and I can get more wrestlers. Very Happy

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised that there hasn't been any WCW stuff in the game.

Oh, that's right. Vince is a modern day Roman emporer and rewrites history to his liking. Slipped my mind.

That's right. wCw never spanked his ass in the ratings for 82 straight weeks. That was all in my head. Vince is the greatest anything, ever. Mr. Green

I'm still burned about the custom soundtracks being left out, especially since I've read up on it, and apparently it's really easy to institute it into the game. So, it's basically boils down to THQ and/or WWE being dicks, or them planning to roll it out further down the line as a "new special feature!"

Christ, even WM21 had custom entrance themes, and I wouldn't piss on that game to put out a fire.

At least the intro of Pirate Paul Burchill is helping to take the edge off of things.

I just have to share this. Dave from the Pro Wrestling X team, the guys creating an independent PC wrestling game, posted a letter from someone that completely lays out once again why THQ is bush league with their game development.

Quote:
I could go on and on for ages about reasons why its been 'pulled' or
never included in the first place.
But a few things about how this has all gone down really has pissed me
off.

Firstly IGN and 2 UK magazines have said they asked THQ about custom
themes and in 2 cases the answer was "Oh that's a no brainer'
and the 3rd response (uk xbox magazine) was ... well they described it
as "Both guys smiled at each other then said, we can't say anything
about that at this time
but when the game is released the fans will be happy' to which they
speculated 'custom themes must be in'
Now we get told they are not in and apart from being very annoyed at
THQ for talking shit... it all makes sense.
Firstly 'No brainer' well that doesnt need much explaining, this is
THQ a company that use the line 'Well if we gave you everything this
year, what could we give you next year to make you buy the game'

(Lets see... ECW roster/brand/commentary... improve caw mode with 3D
clothing and less manga items.
stop remaking character models each year (I think they only do this so
they can meet the WWE guys and no doubt
the divas, and take a ton of photo's for 'research') and instead give
us alternative attires.

Voice Overs have ruined this game too, because we can no longer have a
season mode with CAWs or choose who is on which brand
to keep the game up to date (like in Here comes the Pain) - so we know
too many kids cried out for that to make
them remove it --- so ADD more to the game. Heck if you mod Smackdown
vs RAW you see its only about a GIG's worth of data on a 4+ gig dvd
Even after I've added a load of my own custom themes to the game its
not at 4gig!

Bring back themes from old or missing superstars - and add more call
names or use the legends of wrestling idea and have a list of first name,
surname and nicknames.

Anyway... I'm off track but theres a list right away... then the year
after that add more to the roster, add more legends, more game modes
like the punjabi prision match if you have to`extend the cages and let us
throw someone from the 'hell in a cell' onto the announce tables..!

So this whole thing brings me back to the first point (crap just
realised i DID go on and on for ages lol

Next year we will get our custom themes - and THQ will hype that as the
new big feature! They'll say they had trouble this year getting it to
work online (yeah i bet its really hard to have the option of 'online
music - and offline music'! ---

I'm really miffed at the way this years game has come around though.
Especially THQ's lazy work ethic. Will i still buy it? well yes because
im an idiot and a wrestling fan and... and what other wrestling games
are out there at the moment!

Its the same sorta argument as why current WWE TV feels recycled and
boring. They have no competition so no reason other than thier own self
drive to create the perfect game.

Roll on PWX!

KRadiation / Kevin

Of course the roster sucks....it does in real life too, for the most part (including ken kennedy...i really dont get the big deal about him...i mean he sucks in ring, and all he does is announce his own name...).

It doesn't surprise me one bit that you think that about Ken Kennedy...Being that he's good and all, and probably the best heel they have...But I digress...

Im not surprised you like him....because personally, it takes more than saying your own name to impress me, show.

There's no point in explaining what makes Kennedy so good...He's delusional...

Ramon and Sid's WWF heydays were in the 90's. But I suppose you could say that Scott Hall and Sid Eudy have been around since the mid 70's, if you wanted to be argumentative.

What was my point again?

Oh yeah....we finally get Curt Hennig! Hell yeah! Now I only hope that he has a proper Titantron and theme.

And that you don't have to FUCKING buy a PSP to unlock him, like you did with Jake Roberts. Annoyed

Actually I typed 8 when I meant to type 9...I actually forgot that Mr. Perfect started in the late 80's...
