Is it OK to like Wolfmother?

I don't give a shit. I do and won't apologize for it.

They can take modern music but don't fuck with the 70's. 70's rock is where it all begins and ends with me. In the tradition of Still Water this is as close to it as it gets these days. Everything from the album cover to pics in the liner notes to lyrics and music screams the 70's and that's just alright with me. You just can't reproduce that music like this without love. There is definitely some Black Sabbathish riffage going on.

Woflmother is to Stoner Rock as The Monkees were to Psychedleia. Not necessarily a bad thing, but they're kind of a light beer. Not really interested in the new album.

If you dig Wolfmother, you should check out some Witch, or some Dead Meadow, or some Weedeater (if you want to get heavy). Danava, out in Portland, are pretty mean - kind of a crazy Blue Oyster Cult type thing going on.

Witch is awesome. I haven't heard of any of those other bands I'll check them out. I dig Blue Oyster Cult. Cosmic Egg is much better than the first album though but yeah nothing heavy.

Metal was never my favorite. I was a huge Pink Floyd fan by the time I hit 8. Hell the first and only argument I remember ever getting into with my sisters was when they refused to take me to see The Wall when it came out when I was about 12. I begged and pleaded but they just wouldn't do it. I was pissed off for a long time because I had to wait a few years to get to see it.

The term stoner rock pisses me off, btw.

Yeah, a lot of people seem to dislike it. That's why words like 'sludge,' 'doom,' etc ... start coming up. Personally, I don't get the stigma, but whatever.

Ever listen to Saint Vitus? Their shit'd probably be right up your alley. In fact, anything with Wino in it's pretty badass; The Obsessed, The Hidden Hand, Spirit Caravan, or whatever the hell other side projects you can find.
