So I go to school for illustration, and I'm currently half way through my senior year. My thesis is a 24 page comic by the end of the year, and I broke it up into two short stories (they'll be put together into a book at the end). I just finished the first of the two.

I gotta ask. Do you pencil and ink, or just ink? You have a lot of really good stuff, and some the seems of lesser quality but that just might be due to style.

Ok, just wondering. What kind of pencils and pens do you use? And have you though about doing a comic in the same style you did those animal and biggy drawings?

I use non-photo-blue pencils, because they are much easier to erase and hide when you scan them, though when I'm sketching or if I need to really plug in some tight detail I'll use a regular mechanical pencil. For the ink, it depends on the piece, but lately I've been using a crow quill and sumi ink. That's what I used for the comic. For some of the others I used a brush (the pirate, the snake) again with sumi ink. With some of the earlier stuff I used micron and pitt artist pens for the line work.

The Biggie drawing just took way too long to feasibly do comics in that style, and I think I'd go a little crazy if I tried. Though I am experimenting more with stipple in the upcoming months. I'm working on some pieces right now that will be in that style. I'm working on combining it with some other elements, rather than doing a full illustration that way, since it might look a bit too busy.

why don't you do a 5-6 page comic that way, it'd take time but the outcome would be gorgeous.

I'd like to find a way to incorporate the stippling into full drawings, once I have that I might try and do a comic that way. It all depends on time, and comics generally have a pretty fast turnaround.

looking at most comic series, it's about 22 pages a month (considering an issue comes out once a month)

if you can, it's definitely worth it. I've gone for the past 4 years, but then again, I've been live within walking distance of the convention center right now. I'll most likely have a table next year.

Cool. I'm about an hour away. I want to go so bad, but with a kid coming I don't think I'll be able to make it this year, The other issue is a place to stay.

Ah yeah, I'd offer a place to stay but I won't be living in the city next year, so I'll probably be squatting with someone lol.
