I don't know a fucking thing about this movie because I don't want to until I see it. That's not being uninformed. It's a choice.

It IS being uninformed. The very definition of it, as the matter of fact. You just choose to be uninformed.

Is this movie based on the kiddie cartoon of the same name?

I thought these forums were for informed people? I mean, how can you have an interest in genre films like this to the point where you going to post on a forum and NOT know that Cameron's Avatar isn't even remotely connected to the cartoon. This movie has been in the works for about 4 years or more.

I like horror movies. I don't really pay attention to pre-release stuff.

That doesn't surprise me.

And it didn't. Behold your success.

The film of that is being made by Shymalaladingdong. Not Cameron.

I hadn't watched the trailer until today during football when they aired it during halftime of the Vikings/Packers game and a few times since.

Wow is right. Those effects look mind blowing.

EDIT

Correction. It was aired during the Bears game which was on first.

BTW, the Packers just turned this into a game.

I just saw the trailer again last night before The Vampire's Assistant (it was merely ok, so better than my expectations- my kids like the books, so I had to take them)... I dunno, the effects do look good, but the whole premise leaves me cold. I doubt I will see this.

I don't think you should write it off just yet man. Cameron knows how to write and the trailer doesn't really get into the plot. I'm sure it'll be as cerebral as it is amazing to look at.

James Cameron and Peter Jackson in the same month. Talk about taking the wind out of everyone elses sails.

well, I'm not saying it's gonna be bad, or that I won't give it a try someday... just that I'm not going to spend money to do so... I decided to go to imdb and see what Cameron directed again and the list makes me want to gag... I like Aliens, that's about it... Piranha 2 was fun when I saw it 20 years ago... gonna have to watch that again... and I've never seen Titanic... but his work just leaves me cold... I guess I'm not much of an action movie guy, ultimately.

EDIT: I also really like the first Terminator movie, didn't see that on the list. Hate the others, though.

You'd hate Titanic. I just happened to have an obsession with the story since I was a kid. That and the Hindenburg always fascinated me.

I'm the same. I haven't seen anything that gets me that excited. But maybe that's a good thing? Sometimes it's nice to have no expectations going in.

I think the kids would enjoy seeing this in the theatre. The Abyss has some of the most brilliant dialogue. The effects in his movies always blow me away. Such attention to detail.

An army trying to relocate an indigenous tribe for their own personal gain.
A soldier falling in love with a female of the tribe.
The soldier turns his back on the evil American army and joins forces with the tribe.
The tribe and soldier fight back with bows and arrows against the evil Americans.

I liked it better when it was called Dances With Wolves.
