I was never a fan of the band personally. Even back in my metal days. I thought their lyrics were cheesy and the vocals never really stood out. But man, this was an amazing film. Truly endearing, regardless of their music. It's the story of a couple of guys who have stuck by each other through some truly shitty times because of their belief in what they do and their passion for their music.
I have been in many bands so a lot of what goes on I can completely relate to, so that helped my enjoyment of the film immensely, but beyond that this is a great story that everyone who likes any kind of music should truly check out. I felt every blow, tear, fight and triumph the bands does throughout the film. And damn if Lips doesn't have the most positive outlook on some, again, truly shitty situations. One of my favourite movies of the year.
