I just watched this on Blu-ray the other day and think it's pretty excellent. Oliver Stone stayed as true as he could to the book imo and wrote a great screenplay. I don't like Randy Quaid much but he's very good in this.
Of course the book is a must read. It's totally brutal and really gets across the hell that Billy Hayes endured in his years in the Turkish Prison.
Anyone else ever watch this or read the book? |

I watched this on DVD years ago.
I read that Oliver Stone took quite an artistic license with it.
Good movie, though.
Paul L. Smith is always welcome in a movie. |

| I thought Stone stuck with the book as much as he could. Of course there's alot more homosexuality in the book and the studio wanted no part of it but he put in just enough to get the idea across. |

| Funny to see this in the forums, I just put it on my Netflix instant list. I'll watch it after I suffer through the rest of Boondock Saints. Why is this popular with the kids again? |

I've always been curious about Boondock Saints but never enough to actually watch it.
Midnight Express is a really good movie but it definitely doesn't have the impact the book has. |
