Oh man oh man oh man I can't WAIT for this to come out! I was a huge fan of the original game (and it's sequels) but hated the shoddy graphics and bad balance between Predator, Human and Alien characters.

Hope gameplay for this one is as awesome as it looks.

What did you play it on? I played it on PC and don't remember having any problems with the graphics or balancing. I thought it was all around a stellar game and an instant classic. Hell, they still play the MP to this day. Gotta love hardcore PC gamers.
I was a PC user as well. Well I guess at the time the graphics were stellar, but nowadays everything seems blocky, haha.

In terms of unbalance, I recall marines being able to run as fast as regular aliens while still firing. I always got mowed down, even when charging just one marine. Maybe I just sucked as an Alien... Sad

There's no way I could play the game now. I'm too much of a graphics whore.

AVP Demo is up online, and it's MULTIPLAYER!

I'm grabbing it now and I'll let you guys know what I think.

I think it's fairly balanced. The three races have their pros and cons, yet I never felt that one was superior to the other. The marines have the long range covered, the aliens are hella fast and love to pounce on their prey and the predators have melee and range attacks. All the people I was playing with went for the insta-kill from behind, but that leaves the attacker open for a few seconds, which I immediately took advantage of. When you see an alien tearing a marine a new butthole, run up behind them and fire a fully charged shoulder cannon blast. It's damn satisfying and I can't wait for the release.

Based on the demo, this is definitely a game for FPS vets. My lack of experience in them meant that I could barely tell what was going on half the time. I played as a marine and as an alien, and both had their own difficulties for me. I'll just keep hoping for a "TimeSplitters 4".

I only had one quick go at it, as the marine, and found the demo pretty clunky, to be honest. The graphics are quite disapponting in action, and the controls lack precision.

I'll give it another few goes though - I'm sure it'll grow on me.

Will do. If lucky, Frank, and blackflag are on too. Then we can get a nice party going!

If you could kindly get some drink my way that would be appreciated Mr. Green

Where is everyone? I picked this up and have been playing the game but need to get a much better feel for it before I form an opinion. There's alot of meat on these bones.

Not even a review from DC? I'm looking forward to hearing what other Alien/horror/videogame fans think about this.

I will say this much......I love it.

I didn't care about the demo or reviews so haven't bothered with either. I just glanced on Metacritic and saw how average of reviews it's getting. That's the feeling I get when playing it. It seems to me that Rebellion wasn't concerned with making the GOTY or wowing people with graphics or experimenting with untried gameplay mechanics to win people over. They made a game specifically for hardcore Alien and FPS fans. I can understand why people would be underwhelmed but at the same time I know there are people out there who get it as relatively small a group as that may be. PC gamers will be playing this game for years.

It makes me feel like I did the first time I played Quake and also sat in the theatre watching Alien. It's definitely a throwback. FPS goodness, old-school style.

Fuck Bioshock.

I would have thought that a big FPS fan like you would be able to recognize and appreciate an original innovation in the genre like "Bioshock".
