Since this is about cartoon series as opposed to Warner Bros or MGM short subjects, my list is:

Tiny Toon Adventures
Animaniacs
Dungeons & Dragons
Batman: The Animated Series
The Batman
Justice League Unlimited
Spider-Man: The New Animated Series
(the MTV one season wonder)

only the NINETEEN SIXTIES Johnny Quest counts (as opposed to the Gen Y onerous crap that attempted to revitalize the property). I will gleefully assume (and presume) that Elf was citing the superior original to the "ipod earbuds" generation travesty that was later spawned from the titless bimbos at WB whoring out the juicy original material to boutique companies and various (cheap) foreign animation firms.

Kind of like Aussie Ug Boots being butteraped by pansy-ass "Designer" wannabees (you know, Jimmy Choo-Choo, etc.).

Now, getting back to GOOD shows...

Funky Phantom
Space Ghost (no, Gen Y's, the ORIGINAL)
Ogon Batto (FANTASTIC and being remade)
Marine Boy
Bakshi's Spoderman from the '60's
The FIRST (hand-done) Superman series, LONG before the live action series (and I don't mean Lois and Clark or Smallville, which was chick-flick suckage, btw)

and more.

The Fleisher/Famous Studios Superman cartoons were A) short subjects and b) theatrically released. They weren't TV shows.

And, yes, they're brilliant. I was fortunate enough a couple of years ago to have seen a few as they were intended to be seen -- on a movie theater screen !

Sincerely,
Nitpicking Ned

well, Ned, actually, if you want to nitpick...

ASmile it's Dave Fleischer, not "Fleisher"...

BSmile Just because it was not released as a TV show in YOUR country does not mean it was not released as such in OTHER nations. Just as crappy yank mini-series are shown as "films" outside of the USA. Just as the original Mad Max in it's true theatrical release (as intended) had the original Oz accents, whereas in many parts of the USA, it was released with shitkicker redneck accents looped/dubbed (due to Distributor concerns; they thought dipshits could not 'grok' te Aussie accent).

A) Actually, it's Max Fleischer as well as Dave. But thanks for pointing out the typo anyway.

B) I'd agree that Mad Max with Oz accents is the original and intended presentation. And, if original venue and presentation is important, then the Superman cartoons are properly theatrical short subjects.

Moving on.

Dungeons And Dragons
Battle Of The Planets

Transformers

And at this point I'm struggling, so clearly nothing else has left an impression on me.
