I like this basement scene. Even though the effect is simple I think it's creepy when the face appears.

They need to do a movie like this/The Shining where they have the usual insane acting father only for the third act to come and have the mother be the one who totally snaps, drop subtle hints towards it through the movie, but over shadowed by way the father's acting/audiences expectations of it being him like usual. If done right I think it could be good.

I was thinking they should only let the father read the script in bits, so he wouldn't know he's gonna be a nut and wouldn't telegraph it so early in the movie, but I like BF's idea better.
