This was over at you know where but since the DVD just came out I want to pimp it as much as possible.
SHANE BLACK IS BACK!!!!
Some of you might ask "Who the f*** is Shane Black"? Well, he was the wunderkind who many years ago, wrote a script for a little movie you may have heard of called, LETHAL WEAPON. Well, he became a fairly hot commodity in Hollywood and some of his scripts were on screen as The Last Boyscout and The Long Kiss Goodnight. While I love both of those movies, they weren't critical favourites to say the least.
Well many years later Black is back with this excellent comedy/thriller as writer and as first time director.
To say this movie has black humor is an afront to the concept. It goes WAY beyond that. From severed appendages to piss soaked corpses, KKBB has it all.
Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer are excellent as the "unlikely buddies" in this hilarious spin on the buddy/noir genres.
The ONLY problem I have with the movie is that the murder plot is overly convoluted. But the mayhem that ensues is more than enough to make up for it.
You owe it to yourselves as people who breathe to see this as soon as possible. This is one of the best movies I have seen this year.

Just saw this last night. Excellent.
The narration was a bit too much IMO, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the movie. |

Fantastic flick.
I watched it at a film fest a few months ago and I’m picking up the dvd ASAP. _________________ "We need to laugh, we need to be scared, we need to hug our girl in the theatre. It lightens the load of this crummy life."-Clu Gulager |

| I loved this movie, one of the funnier movies I've seen in the last few years. It was just my type of humor. |

Great great movie. Very very funny. It goes over the top in all the best ways. _________________ "One should judge a man mainly from his depravities. Virtues can be faked. Depravities are real." - Klaus Kinski |

Hell yeah, this movie was just pure fun.
I guess Black was paying attention when all his other scripts were being filmed, because the film is pretty efficient. There are jokes and clever script bits all throughout, but they never broke reality or seemed like anything those charecters wouldn't say (or do).
This may just be me, but I also thought it was funny that the closest thing to a "Johhny Gossimer (two-fisted, ladies man type detective)" in the movie was Perry. Gold Jerry, pure gold. |

I just got done watching it and came here to post a new topic about it. Well, I was too late. Apparently others have seen this genius work. Shane Black is a fucking stud. It is mentioned above what he has written, but I am sure many of you recall Hawkins in Predator stating his wife's pussy is as big/bigger than a house; that is Shane Black. I agree with the convoluted murder plot, but it's definitely nothing to stray you from this movie. The humor is smart. You will be laughing well after anything funny is said/happens. I really hope Shane Black writes a sequel and gets Robert Downey, Jr. and Val Kilmer back again. _________________ Music of Thee Drunken One

Yeah, great movie. Shane Black is the man. I hope he keeps directing movies. This thing is overflowing with hilarious moments, I could go on all day, but it's just brilliant. It's got a really great shoot-out towards the end too, I never thought I'd ever see Robert Downey just becoming a gun capping badass.
*spoilers!!!!!!******

My favorite part in the whole movie was at the end when you find out Val Kilmer is still alive and Downeys like, "Fuck, lets just bring everyone back," and all the badguys and everyone who died throughout the movie comes into the room...ABE LINCOLN just about killed me!
