Family, Alien Food Cast

Kelly Preston in James Wan's Death SentenceYet again more casting news has come down the wire, and yet again I don’t feel it’s necessary to give it all its own story. Is that laziness on my part for writing it this way or yours for reading it? You be the judge.

First up, CHUD received the news that John Ortiz, last seen in an apparently great role in Michael Mann’s Miami Vice film, is ready to sign on for the lead in Alien vs. Predator: Survival of the Fittest. Of course nothing is official until the dotted line is signed, but if this is the case, maybe that’s a good indication that they’re more concerned with the monsters than the men this time around, casting relative unknowns for the lead roles. Of course, that’s what they did for the first film and it didn’t help…

Word also came from Variety that Kelly Preston (pictured), who’s recently been seen in family-friendly fare like Cat in the Hat and Sky High, will take on the role of Kevin Bacon’s wife in James Wan’s Death Sentence. Stuart Lafferty (“One Tree Hill”) will play his son. Seeing as how the story is about a man who goes vigilante after his family is attacked by a gang as part of an initiation, there’s no telling how long either will be on screen, but at least things are moving forward.

And no, still no news on when we’ll be seeing Wan’s Saw follow-up, Dead Silence (review), but hopefully we’ll get word very soon.
