Frank Mudson. Peter Benchely went out fishing with him in 68 and wrote Jaws in 72.
He was the direct inspiration for Quint.

My wife and I watched the "Dirty Jobs"- Jobs that bite episode last night. It was great. We love that show anyway, but combined with my love for sharks, it was really cool. They are running another one on friday called, "Jobs That Bite Harder". I'm looking forward to it. _________________ Be sure to drink your Ovaltine

Shark Week is beyond awesome. I love it when they talk about the shark attacks and the worlds most deadliest sharks. I have this fettish for man eaters, especially the Bull Shark.
They're like the Wolverine of the shark world man. |

Bullsharks have a higher level of testosterone than any other animal. That's why they are so badass.
I Tivo'd a bunch of Shark Week shows but I can't remember what they all are. I'm going to go watch some in a little. Shark Week is like Chirstmas and my Birthday all rolled into one! _________________ You know there ain't no Devil, that's just God when he's drunk. |

Watching some of Shark Week's programming has left me wondering:
WHERE HAVE ALL THE SHARK MOVIES GONE?
There was a period of time over the past few years where you couldn't even sneeze without having some made-for-cable/straight-to-DVD shark flick saying "gesundheit!" The last one that I know of was last fall's BLUE DEMON. I know I wrote in my review that the film was so bad it would kill the entire killer shark genre dead but I honestly didn't fully believe that would turn out to be the case. Before anyone says anything about the film 12 DAYS OF TERROR that came out on DVD a few months back, keep in mind that originally premiered on cable (For The Discovery Channel no less!) two years ago. Other than the long in-the-works big screen version of the novel MEG that may or may not one day become a reality, I'll be damned if I can think of a single shark flick on the way or in the works. This is a tragedy. Where have all the sharks gone? Where have all the badly computer generated sharks gone? Where has all the stock footage of real live sharks in the midst of a feeding frenzy cheesily edited together with footage of actors splashing about in the water gone? Where the hell has Nu Image gone? Where the hell has Nu Image gone? With all the problems in the the world, we need our shark flicks now more than ever.
It seems that sharks are out and Bigfoot is in. Not that I'm complaining about that because, as you all no doubt know, EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH BIGFOOT~! Dragons also seem to be rather en vogue of late too. Still, I kind of miss those uber schlocky shark flicks. Dammit Nu Image, we need you to stop flirting with mainstream Hollywood filmmaking and get back to making SHARK ATTACK 4: THROUGH THE PORTAL OF TIME pronto!

It's good to see you fighting the good fight, Foy! Maybe we should hold a candle-light vigil to show our suppourt for the dying genre. _________________ You know there ain't no Devil, that's just God when he's drunk. |

I mean, they could make a movie about bull sharks going in a lake and eating people! That would be COOL!
And then they grow legs and walk out on land with the ruins of the Statue of Liberty behind them!
Ah, damn, that would be a great movie. |

Or what if the bull shark was actually half bull and had horns on its head to gore people with.
The Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie...
