A perfect film for this time of year (and one of the movies featured in October’s witch-themed #MonthOfDread2020 horror challenge), The Woods was released in the US of this day in 2006 (following its Fantastic Fest premiere a month prior). Starring Agnes Bruckner and Patricia Clarkson with a killer cameo from Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness), The Woods is directed by Lucky McKee from a screenplay penned by David Ross.

Synopsis:
A girl is sent to a remote boarding school, where she has nightmares and hears voices coming from the woods. She soon suspects that the school is a coven of witches. When some of her classmates disappear, the girl believes she will be next.
Trivia:
This film, which sat on the shelf for nearly three years, caused M. Night Shyamalan to have to change the name of his 2004 film from The Woods to The Village (2004). (Source)
